Steelers CB Joey Porter Out Again; Ramsey Questionable

Steelers secondary thins out for Thursday night

Pittsburgh has ruled cornerback Joey Porter out for Thursday night's game against the Browns — his fourth consecutive absence. On top of that, fellow cornerback Jalen Ramsey carries a questionable tag into the matchup, leaving the Steelers' coverage group short-handed as they head into the short week.

What it means for your survivor pick

A depleted secondary is a caution flag whenever you're eyeing a defense-reliant team as a survivor pick. With Porter already sidelined and Ramsey's status up in the air, Pittsburgh's pass defense is a question mark right when you'd want certainty on a Thursday night play. The good news for survivor players: Porter has missed three games already, so this isn't a new dependency to rebuild around — but don't treat the Steelers as a lock while their corners are banged up. If you're leaning Pittsburgh, wait for Ramsey's final designation before you lock it in, and keep a backup in your pocket.
