Bucs S Antoine Winfield Jr. Out 2-4 Weeks With Rib Fracture

Oct 5, 2026

Winfield Jr. sidelined by rib fracture

Tampa Bay safety Antoine Winfield Jr. is headed for a multi-week absence. Coach Todd Bowles said Monday the All-Pro is expected to miss two to four weeks with what he described as a "slight rib fracture."

Losing a player of Winfield's caliber matters on any defense. He's one of the Buccaneers' defensive anchors, and a 2-4 week window means he could be out for a meaningful stretch of the schedule, not just a single game.

Survivor-pick impact

If you were eyeing the Buccaneers as a survivor play, factor this into your risk. Winfield's absence weakens Tampa Bay's back end, which can swing a close matchup — exactly the kind of variance survivor players try to avoid. That doesn't make the Bucs un-pickable, but it nudges them from a clean lock toward a game where the matchup deserves a closer look before you commit your only life.

As always, weigh the opponent and keep your stronger team names in reserve for weeks when the spread does the talking. If you're still setting up your season, start a free survivor pool and keep digging through more survivor analysis before you lock in Week 5.
