Browns DE Alex Wright Carted Off: Survivor-Pick Read
Aug 21, 2026
Alex Wright hurt at Bills joint practice
Cleveland Browns defensive end Alex Wright was carted off during a joint practice with the Buffalo Bills. The concern is real: if the injury turns out to be serious, the free-agent market doesn't give the Browns many appealing options to fill the hole on their defensive line.
What it means for your survivor pick
Losing a rotational pass rusher rarely swings a whole season, but it matters for how you rank Cleveland on your survivor board. The schedule already tells you plenty. The Browns open Week 1 on the road at Jacksonville as 7.5-point underdogs, then travel to Tampa Bay in Week 2 as 6.5-point underdogs — Cleveland is not favored in either of its first two real games, so they weren't a survivor candidate to begin with. A thinner pass rush only reinforces that you look elsewhere for a safe survivor pick in those weeks. The one spot where Cleveland is favored is the Week 3 exhibition against Buffalo (CLE -3), which doesn't factor into your picks.
Bottom line: keep the Browns off your Week 1 and Week 2 shortlist regardless of how Wright's injury shakes out, and monitor the diagnosis for later weeks. New to the format? Here's how survivor pools work.
