Austin Ekeler Returns to Commanders: Survivor Pick Impact

Ekeler back in Washington

Veteran running back Austin Ekeler is expected to sign with the Commanders, bringing an experienced back into Washington's backfield.

What it means for your survivor pick

A proven veteran adds depth and a reliable option to the Commanders' rushing attack, which is a small plus if you're weighing Washington as a safe survivor pick. That said, a single roster addition rarely moves the needle on its own — the matchup and the Commanders' opponent should still drive your decision, and Ekeler's exact role and workload aren't spelled out here. Don't burn Washington as a survivor pick solely because a veteran signed; wait to see how the offense uses him.
